Mujeres De Buena Fe Patzun Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy wallets, along with men's and women's backpacks in different designs.

Mujeres De Buena Fe Patzun Group's story

The ancient Kaqchikel capital, Iximche, is located in the industrial and agricultural state of Chimaltenango, which lies to the west of Guatemala's capital. This highland area is the home of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres De Buena Fe Patzun”, with 7 small-business women who sell secondhand clothes, shoes, and vegetables, and also have convenience stores and tortilla shops. They are beginning their first loan cycle with Kiva.

The group's president is 47-year-old Juana, who never attended school. She is married and has 5 children between 21 and 34 years old, who were able to attend school through the 7th grade. Juana sells a variety of things, like clothing, toys, and household items, secondhand. She wants to introduce new items into her product line, so she is requesting a loan to buy wallets, along with men's and women's backpacks in different designs.

The women of Mujeres De Buena Fe Patzun are very happy to be participating the monthly Microcredit Plus (education + loans) program, where they can learn good business and health skills. In the business area, they engage in lessons about controlling expenses, budgeting and saving. They feel more empowered when they can help their families stay healthy by eating nutritious foods. They are very grateful for the support provided by Friendship Bridge and Kiva, which helps them on a path out of poverty into a brighter future! Thank you!!!
