Yesenia Del Carmen's story
Yesenia del Carmen Alemán Fernández is a 24 year old entrepreneur. She is married and has two children. For four years she has had a mini market in an outlying district of the city of Bluefields. Her husband is currently unemployed. He only occasionally gets some informal work. Her family depends on her business. There is not much competition in the sector where her mini market is. There are only two stores, and they both supply the area with provisions. Only her store sells meat (chicken and beef), and she therefore keeps her customers permanently. Even so, she does not meet the area’s demands. She needs to increase her inventory. That is why she is asking for a loan for the following products: 3 Quintales (a quintal is equal to 100 pounds) of American rice at US 45.00 per quintal, 2 quintales of sugar at US 30.00 per quintal, 2 drums of oil at US 25.00 per drum, 50 pounds of chicken at US 1.00 per pound, 2 quintales of beans at US 35.00 per quintal, 50 pounds of beef at US 1.30 per pound, 3 boxes of three minute soup at US 10.00 per box and 2 boxes of milk at US 20.00 per box.
