Thoatha's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for bags of rice, cartons of canned goods, and other items for her general store.

Thoatha's story

Thoatha is 43 years old, and married with 4 children. She lives in a rural area outside of Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Island.

Thoatha runs a small general store in her community, selling basic food items like rice, noodles, snacks, coffee and canned goods, to earn a living. She has been doing this for 3 years.

With her previous loans, she was able to start up her business and meet her family's daily expenses. With the help of ongoing guidance and training from the SPBD staff on how to run a small business, she was able to earn good income and her business is running well. She joined SPBD in 2015 to gain access to financial services.

Thoatha is now requesting a new loan to buy bags of rice, cartons of canned goods. and other goods to increase her stock, and help maintain her business. She plans to use her profits to build a new home for the family.
