Lonyi's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to purchase a refrigerated truck to bring his handcrafted yogurt to markets in regional communities.
Lonyi has been working with nomadic Tibetan families in his community to make yogurt from yak milk for more than 5 years. Lonyi began his business working with 14 families. Now, the business sources over 1,000 kg of yak milk from 40 nomadic families every year, and sells yogurt in 3 major Tibetan areas. The demand for his yogurt continues to grow; however, Lonyi is currently unable to transport his yogurt to distant cities before it spoils. A loan of $8,000 will allow Lonyi to invest in a refrigerated van that can allow his employees to safely bring their yogurt outside to more Tibetan communities. Lonyi hopes this investment will allow his business to develop sustainably, enter new markets, and eventually source yogurt from 100 nomadic families in his area.
