Pema's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to create a showroom for students to display and sell traditional Tibetan Thangka paintings and crafts.

Pema's story

Pema runs a school of 5 teachers and 50 Tibetan students in Western China. HIs students learn and preserve traditional Tibetan craft techniques, including intricate Thangka paintings, Thangka embroidery pieces, and other crafts. His work keeps local traditions alive, and employs local people. In 5 years, the school has grown from 7 students to more than 50. In his current space, Pema has no room for more students. With a loan of $8,000, Pema will be able to invest in a small workshop and showroom for graduates of his school to work and sell their pieces. Pema hopes that as his school's reputation for the highest quality work continues to grow, he will inspire more young people to preserve these craft traditions.
