Nicole Nayeli's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to stock her corner store.

Nicole Nayeli's story

Sra. Nicole, 19, lives in Portoviejo, a city in Ecuador's Portoviejo river valley. The city, known for tamarinds, was badly damaged in an earthquake last April. The soil of the Portoviejo river valley is rich and local farms produce tropical fruits and garden crops that are sold across the country.

Sra. Nicole is single and lives with her parents. She is pregnant, at 39 weeks. She has operated a corner store for 5 years and sells rice, sugar, cooking oil, detergents, fruits, vegetables and other everyday products. She works from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm or later, every day of the week. She is applying for a loan that she will use to stock her business with rice, sugar, pasta, flour, snacks, etc. Her community bank has received its fourth round of funding and she says that the advantages of the group for her are health insurance and the relatively little paperwork required to complete a loan application.

When we asked Sra. Nicole what she most wants for the future, she told us that she wants to open a larger store with more merchandise.
