El Pilon Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase manure to assist his coffee farm.

El Pilon Group's story

Juan, 35 years old, is married, has two children and lives in a community which belongs to the municipality of Gracias, Lempira. Juan has always worked in agriculture, growing corn, beans and coffee. Coffee is what generates the most income to support his family. He cultivates land in the agricultural zone and sells the yield to intermediaries, both washed and dried grains.

He asks for his fifth loan from the institution and it is a group loan. He will purchase manure to assist his coffee farm to improve both his yield and his income. His plan is to continue producing coffee to cover his family's needs. The group which has formed, called El Pilón, is made up of 5 members who work in agriculture and know each other from the same community. They ask for a loan of a total of 49,500 lempiras to purchase manure and fertilize their crops. In the photo, they are from left to right: Edwin, María, Danilo, Juan and Santos.
