Anne's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped replace our snow plowing and delivery truck, so we can protect our high tunnels through the snow season and make bulk deliveries to our customers.
Charlie and I both grew up in Maine, and knew we had a passion for making a life together here in our home state. Charlie's background in agricultural mechanics allowed him to open his own small business doing at-your-farm tractor and equipment repair for the farming community. My background in vegetable and flower seed cultivars and trade allowed me to explore more fully the most adaptable cultivars for Northeast farming. When we paired these two skill sets together, we realized that making a go of a commercial organic farm just might be viable-- and it has been! Buying an old farm within the city limits of Belfast, has created an environment that happily marries raising our daughter in a neighborhood setting, and having a bit of the country life too. We feel lucky and fortunate to be able to grow healthy food, eat healthy food, and provide healthy food for others. Our hope for the future is that neighborhoods across the country will construct and grow produce inside of unheated high tunnels during the winter months to strengthen their community's access to fresh vegetables.
