Cynthia's story

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, I grew up learning about & loving different cultures and people. I'm hardworking, resourceful, creative & curious about the world and for as long as I can remember I've wanted to own my own business. A decision mostly influenced by the entrepreneurial spirit my mom exhibited despite the struggles I witnessed her endure as a young girl. I'd help her sort cosmetics and pastries she'd make to sell to fellow students, teachers & neighbors while raising me and my younger siblings. It's always been my goal to start and run a successful business that would bring the most happiness to myself and other people. With Build-a-Biscuit, I believe that I'm that much closer to achieving that. With over 15 scratch-made toppings to choose from (American & international comfort food favorites) like chicken pot pie, beef brisket, seafood curry bisque, lesco (a hungarian fav.), chocolate gravy & more, Build-a-Biscuit allows a customer to start with a square, buttermilk biscuit and create a unique biscuit dish each time they order. However, several months ago, I was forced to close my restaurant doors due to the lack of equipment and adequate commercial space necessary to run my restaurant successfully. Closing the doors to a restaurant whose fixtures I had designed & built from scratch using wood & other materials I'd picked up here and there was extremely difficult. But in no way have I given up! I plan to reopen Build a Biscuit in a well-equipped location to continue to put smiles on the faces of people young and old with my modernized, comfort food classic while simultaneously growing a business that attracts other hardworking individuals with a passion to create such as myself.
