José Santiago's story

José is 63 years old and works in farming and raising livestock. He is married and his wife helps him with his farm work as well as sells tamarind and carao fruit. José has four children but they all live separately.

José gets up at 5:00 a.m. to go to his plots of land to work in the morning. His children arrive to help him and, in the afternoon, he works taking care of the cows that provide milk to sell. These activities are his principal sources of income.

José is a very persevering man who has been supported through 3 previous Kiva loans. These have help his family move forward. He has already repaid 2 of the loans and he only has a little left to repay on the most recent one.

José will use this loan to buy farming supplies such as poisons, seeds, composts, etc. in order to sow basic grains.

He desires to have a good harvest and to make good use of the earnings to repay his loan on time.
