10 Quarter (2) Group's story

This group is located in Pakokku, a town in the dry zone of Central Myanmar. There are four customers, including the featured borrower who oversees the loan program. The group members, pictured above, are Si, Theint, Khin Hnin and Khin.

First on the left in the picture is 31-year-old Theint. She is a mother of one child. Her spouse works at a crop warehouse in the town, as a general laborer. That is where he gets his daily income. Theint, a hardworking wife, decided to start a small grocery store about two-and-a-half years ago. Theint is a great salesperson, who can easily attract a new customer to become her loyal customer. In addition to this shop, Theint also sells betel quid, for extra income. While saving the profits from these businesses, Theint and her spouse are dreaming of buying a motorized rickshaw in the future.

Her share of this new loan will help Theint to purchase grocery items to sell, such as fish paste, dried fish, betel nuts, betel leaf, etcetera.
