A loan helped to pay her children's education costs and improve her husband's livestock business.

Pegi Campe Group's story

Mersiana is a member of the "Pegi Campe" group. She is a 36-year-old married woman. Her husband is Dominikus, who is 40 years old and an entrepreneur. The couple has four children: Karolina, 16, a senior in high school; Marselina, 14, a junior in high school; Heldiana, 12, an elementary school student; and Iswardus, who is six. Similar to the majority of women in her community, Mersiana is a farm laborer who earns a daily income of 25,000-30,000 IDR. She also owns a half-acre farm where she cultivates cocoa, coffee and cloves. Mersiana's farm produces 25 kilograms of coffee, 5 kilograms of cloves, and about 10 kilograms of cocoa each harvest season, enabling her to earn an income of 1,500,000 IDR.

Mersiana is requesting a loan to provide for her children's education. She and her friends are requesting a group loan of 10,000,00 IDR; her portion will be 2,000,000 IDR. Mersiana will use part of her loan to provide capital for her husband's business exporting cows.
