Ana Consuelo's story

Señora Ana is pictured here with the oldest of her two children. She is a 32-year-old single mother and has a business selling cooked food in the evenings from the front porch of her home. Ana lives in the city of Pucallpa. Ana has been working with Manuela Ramos, a Kiva field partner, for about two years. She belongs to the "Las Romanticas II" communal bank. Ana used her first loan of 300 soles (about $100) to purchase food for her restaurant business and also to purchase shoes which she sells to Pucallpa's prison. Ana is currently requesting a loan of 1500 soles which she plans to invest in food for her restaurant as well as in beauty products, clothing, and sandals to sell. All of these investments will help her to continue to develop in the microbusiness environment. Ana is grateful to Manuela Ramos for her loans and for the business education sessions she receives from the organization's loan officers at her communal bank's monthly meetings.
