Caroline's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped her to start raising chickens to supplement the income from her farm.

Caroline's story

Wonderful Kiva lenders, this woman with a lovely smile is Caroline, a young farmer who resides in a remote area in Eldoret District, Uasin Gishu County in Kenya. Her husband is supportive, and together they have been able to give their children love, parental care and support.

Along with her husband, Caroline works hard as a crop and dairy farmer. She is well recognized in her village due to her resilience and passion regarding this livelihood. She believes that one day she will be able to alleviate her family’s poverty and that of her aging parents through her farming.

While under her parents’ roof Caroline gathered much experience in poultry keeping, but she has not had sufficient capital to start raising chickens herself. Through the media Caroline learned there are well-wishers in the Kiva community who would like to help elevate the standards of living for women like her through loans. So she has applied for a 30,000 KES loan through Kiva's field partner Juhudi Kilimo to begin raising chickens to supplement her farming income and increase her profits.
