Maria Gabriela's story

In the city of Portoviejo, known as the city of the Reales Tamarindos affected by the earthquake on April 16, 2016, is located in the Rio Portoviejo valley. The city produces lots of vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruits for its own use.
Maria, 23, is married and 4 months pregnant. Her husband sells assorted products. Because his income is not enough to cover expenses, she started a business a year ago to help him with household expenses. She has a small stand selling flowers made of fabric and plastic, as well as real flowers. Her husband, who has another stand next to her, helps her, and when he is busy, she helps him with his sales. She also sells products out of her house. She sells them on credit and receives payment every two weeks. Her sales have improved for the time being.
She will use this new loan to buy flowers and hats, which are in demand in the winter. She has been in a loan group for six cycles now and she like it because the interest is low and the group is united. Her dream is to have her own home.
