A loan helped this driven female entrepreneur to convert a vintage Airstream trailer into an mobile bar and lounge for weddings, parties and other special events!

Elyse's story

As an interior designer, I am passionate about creating inspiring spaces in which people can relax and recreate. I'm also perennially peripatetic (i.e. a fancy way of saying I'm a gypsy at heart :-) My love of creating spaces began when, at the age of 21, I went to Nicaragua during the war and volunteered to build 10 one-room brick and dirt floor homes and a small school house. After that I chose to make building my career and have learned a lot since then :-) In addition to designing houses, I've refurbished a classic wooden yacht, vintage VW vans, and a vintage Airstream trailer. Alas in 2010, I fell pray to the recession and I lost almost everything except my trusty Airstream trailer. I am fortunate that I like to live and travel in small mobile spaces, so it intermittently became my new favorite home – one that I could take with me like a turtle and her shell! I soon found out that other people enjoyed my Airstream as much as I do; and as a result of taking a local entrepreneurial class, I decided to share it with others as a vacation rental. And that is how my new company, Wild West Wagons, was formed! Wanting to share my love of vintage Airstreams with even more people, I later conceived of the idea to convert one into a bar and lounge to be used for parties, weddings and special events.
