Hpu Lon – 3 (A) Village Group's story

In the picture, San is first from the left. She is 42 years old, married, and resides in the village of Pakokku township, Myanmar. San is the leader of this loan group, called Hpu Lon – 3 (A).

Her youngest daughter is school-aged and another one usually helps San when things get busy. San is a very productive mother who can lead all of the work while her spouse works in nearby towns to earn a regular income.

She is not only a hard-working farmer but also a good cook in her village community. She sells delicious fried rice and Mohinga (Burmese fish noodle soup) in front of her house. Paddy, sesame, and pigeon pea are the main plants that San usually grows. She owns a small two-acre farm which has handed down from her beloved parents.

San doesn’t have enough capital to buy quality fertilizers, composts, seeds and the like. She is very thankful for this Kiva loan which will be used to buy fertilizers and pay for daily wages to other villagers who help on the farm in the busy season by cultivating and harvesting.

Together with San in the picture are: Thi, Su and Mya.
