Youssouf's Group's story

Youssouf is the man with his hand on the bag of groundnuts in the picture. He is from Mali and never went to school. He is forty-three years old, married, and has seven children between the ages of four and nineteen. Four of the children are currently in school. His wife manages the household and has a small business selling beans at the market.

Youssouf is a cereal buyer. He is contracting a loan with RMCR to purchase many bags of cereals such as millet, corn, groundnuts, and rice. He procures his merchandise from local fairs and resells at the same fairs. He has been in this business for over twenty-six years. His sales allow him to earn about 15,000 CFA francs in profit every month. The income makes it possible for him to provide for some of his family’s needs.

In the future, Youssouf would like to contract a larger loan to grow his business and build a permanent house for his family.
