A loan helped to purchase seed potatoes for planting.

Veronica's story

Veronica is a 43-year-old farmer from the village of Hircesti, which is in the region of Ungheni in Moldova. She is married and has a daughter and a son, both of whom are students. Her husband is currently the director of the local culture house. He had worked in Russia the previous year.

Veronica has worked in agriculture for six years. She owns 12 hectares of farmland where she grows potatoes, tomatoes, and cabbages. Last year, Veronica managed to harvest 30 units of potatoes, 10 units of tomatoes, and four units of cabbages. She sold her produce at the open-air markets in Ungheni. During the harvest season, she employs up to 20 workers who are happy to have a job near where they live. In order to plow the land, Veronica uses a tractor she bought with the money she earned from her sales.

Veronica needs a loan from Kiva to buy seed potatoes for planting. As a result, she will be able to develop her business and have the means to pay for her children’s studies.
