Total loan: $10,000

Berkeley, CA, United States / Arts

Cindi's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped upgrade photography equipment, provides working capital, and supports marketing efforts and materials during the wedding booking season. All bookings lead to new Kiva loans!

Cindi's story

I was so fortunate to grow up in a time and place where nature (and being our natural selves) was celebrated. The San Geronimo Valley in West Marin County north of San Francisco afforded the privilege of peace, wildness, art and play in my formative years. My lifelong interests have grown from this experience. I’ve always been on a path to know more deeply humanity and true nature. In addition to hiking the hills and exploring the creek...art, music and dance have been the vehicle to my learning about life and people. I traveled to Ghana as a college student to study art and culture. By running up against my cultural assumptions in a foreign environment a new consciousness in me was stirred...of sorting out what is universally human and what is learned. And through this, finding means of connection across differences wherever they may turn up. A BA in Dance at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and the study of human psychomotor development followed. I continue to be passionate about uncovering the connection between human psychology and physical body, with the intention to see physical expression honestly reflect the internal being. I have untiring fascination with people and relationships and love. I have been photographing weddings since 1998. I have been a mother since 2000 (three kids). I’ve been a Kiva lender since 2009 (272 loans and counting!) I’m a single parent supporting my family through my wedding photography business, ready to grow.
