Mary's story

Mary is a person who has had to overcome a lot of adversity in her life. However, she has always had the strength to overcome it and move forward with her children.

Kiva lenders, meet Mary, one of the most hardworking women on planet Earth. She is very hardworking and a go-getter. Mary hails from a remote village in the Kerugoya area of Kenya. This area has harsh weather conditions. To survive, you must have tough skin. But Mary has defied all the odds and has been engaged in crop, horticulture and animal farming for the past ten years.

Mary's primary sources of income are crops and animal farming. Mary is content with the farming way of life. She is a very enterprising woman, and although she never had a formal education or formal employment, she has always worked hard on her farm and she has always provided her children and family with a decent meal.

Mary is seeking a loan to improve her horticulture farming because the Kerugoya area has favorable conditions for it. Because of good roads, a good climate, and a good transportation network, Mary is sure that she will reap maximum profits and be able to increase her business.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya is very challenging, but Mary feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. Please help Mary keep her big smile and she will not disappoint!
