La Mu Gyi (D) Village Group's story

Members of the La Mu Gyi (D) Village Group are Win, Swe and Sann.

39 year old Win (in the middle of the picture) is married and a mother of five children. Her big family results in big expenses compared to a small family. To cover all the expenses of the family members, Win’s family does a lot of jobs like farming, day labor, and raising ducks. Raising ducks is just a new business for her family while farming has been done for generations.

Two years ago, she started duck farming and there are 100 ducks on her farm. Though this is just a small business, it covers the family’s needs such as healthcare fees, clothing, food and education. Her noisy, dependable duck flock lay eggs either at night or in the morning. So she can collect their fresh eggs every morning and sell them in the village market.

She is planning to purchase quality duck feed such as corn and rice, and store them for later use.

She is very well known as a good speaker and good communicator in the village and these skills may even contribute to her business success.
