Madres Laboriosas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to invest in buying rice, beans, corn, eggs, sugar & other inventory that her customers request.

Madres Laboriosas Group's story

The ladies in a Friendship Bridge Trust bank co-guarantee each other’s loans, meeting monthly to make payments on them. They participate in educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans + education. These educational trainings are of tremendous value to the women who have little or no formal education. The loans give them a chance to jump start themselves out of poverty while the educational training help them build a foundation for life. A specific topic is covered at each meeting based on 4 main subjects: women, families, health, business.

The Trust Bank “Madres Laboriosas” or “Hardworking Mothers” is located in the department or state of Chimaltenango. It is made up of 10 women who are determined to create more prosperous lives for themselves & their families. They are beginning their 1st loan cycle with KIVA. Sonia is the President of the group, who is 33 years old & has a 3rd grade education.

She understands how important education is, therefore works hard in her convenience store to put aside funds so that 2 of her 3 children (12,15) are enrolled in primary & secondary schools. When her 5 month old daughter is ready, there will be educational funds for her as well. Sonia is requesting a loan to invest buying rice, beans, corn, eggs, sugar & other inventory that her customers request.

Thank you, KIVA investors! You are much appreciated by Sonia & her friends in the Trust Bank!
