Coumba's Group
Coumba's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to buy a 70-kilo basket of dried fish, 10 20-litre cans of palm oil, and 5 buckets of groundnut paste.
Coumba's Group's story
This 25-member group was created in July of 2008. It is made up of women who all live in the same village. They share values of solidarity and mutual support which characterise their actions and their relationships. They are experienced small retailers, which is their main business activity.
Coumba (standing on the far right and raising her hand) is the group representative. She is married, 37 years old, and the mother of three children. She sells groundnut paste, palm oil, and dried fish, which she buys at the weekly markets.
She plans to use this new loan to buy a 70-kilo basket of dried fish, 10 20-litre cans of palm oil, and 5 buckets of groundnut paste, which she will sell to retail customers at her home.
The profits are used, in part, to contribute significantly to the daily expenses (food and education) and, in part, to build her savings.
