Bangkok Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to increase her poultry stocks and also improve her rabbit business.

Bangkok Group's story

She cuddles a hen as if it were a child. She tenderly examines the injuries around the hen’s eyes and neck before setting it free. The way she conducts the checkup reminds one of a dedicated vet. Besides the modern family house, the compound hosts a chicken house made of unburned bricks. No litter in sight and everything seems to have been arranged meticulously. To avoid infections, one must step in a trough full of disinfectants. “Everyone must step in the disinfectant before they enter the chicken house to protect the chickens from diseases,’’ she explains.

Iline is a member of the Bangkok group and a mother of 3 staying at Granary suburb in Harare. She is one of the model chicken rearers in Granary suburb as she places animal welfare high among her considerations.

Born into a humble family 45 years ago, Iline was forced to drop out of school after completing Primary School as her parents could not afford tuition fees. After being raised by a grandmother who was into farming, Iline managed to use the experience she gained to start her business. She joined Thrive in 2016 with 4 other ladies from her community and used her initial loan to build new fowl runs and she is grateful for the assistance she got. Illine will use her portion of this loan to increase her poultry stocks and also improve her rabbit business.
