Nancy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy gallons of palm oil to sell to her customers.

Nancy's story

Greetings from Waterloo, a community near a small and busy rural area in Sierra Leone.

This is 37-year-old Nancy, a married mother who has been blessed with 4 children between the ages of 1 year and 15 years.

Nancy sells palm oil within a busy market area. Nancy has been in this business for 20 years; she has been a trader all her life. Nancy works 9 hours per day and 6 days per week day. She likes the fact that she continues to have new customers and has kept the old ones. Palm oil is red in color and is the cornerstone of Sierra Leonean cuisine. It is used as the base for spicy stews. Good quality oil is said to be high in antioxidants. The oil is usually sold in yellow plastic cans. Borrowers like Nancy save money when they buy their oil in bulk.

Nancy wants to use this loan to buy gallons of palm oil to sell to her customers. Nancy would like to see her business grow in the next 5 years. She really wants to improve her life and is grateful to BRAC Sierra Leone and the Kiva community for their financial support.
