Emily's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a solar light and gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seed and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Emily's Group's story

Emily is a 42-year-old proud mother of five children. She is often described as a very reliable person. Emily is representing her group of 10 farmers in Kimilili District. Since joining One Acre Fund in 2015, Emily has noticed that she has had more profits from each harvest.

Emily described her harvest as poor due to bad weather conditions last year, but believes she can have a better one this year by continuing to work with One Acre Fund.

She is very excited to also be purchasing a solar light, apart from fertilizer and maize, because she will now be able to reduce the consumption of paraffin fuel and therefore save more money. With the profits from this season’s harvest, she plans to send her children to school.

With this loan, Emily’s Group will be able to plant a total of 7.25 acres of land and purchase a total of eight solar lights.
