Benjamin Lubadiri's story
Meet 33-year-old Benjamin. The youngest in the family, he takes care of his mother as she is a pensioner. Benjamin worked for a time in South Africa and would send money home to his mother. When his work permit wasn't renewed in 2015, Benjamin returned home and and went back to unemployment.
Benjamin has since taken charge and become a mobile money agent. He now helps his community send and receive money via a mobile transaction. Being safe and affordable, this service is to assist the unbanked, but everyone can use the service as it is more convenient than having to travel to a bank. It's not always that the receiver actually has a bank account to access the funds.
Benjamin reaches out to Kiva as he no longer has finances to increase his capital in the business. This loan will go toward increasing his daily cash on hand in order to assist more customers.
Benjamin feels proud of himself as he says his time in South Africa inspired him to become a businessman. He hopes to grow so that he can create employment for others, as unemployment is rising among the young.
Benjamin thanks Kiva lenders in advance.
