Jacinta Isabel's story

Sra. Isabel is a member of the "Las Totoritas" Village Bank, located in Chimu Community of Puno Department/Province. She is 51 years old, married, and the mother of 6 children. She completed primary school, and currently lives in the Calcota sector of the Progreso neighborhood. She has been working with the Manuela Ramos Movement for almost 7 years. Her first loan was for 300 soles, and she used it to make "quesanas," a type of rush mat. She currently needs a loan of 2,700 soles to buy totora reeds and chillihua wood to make her quesanas, which she will then sell in mines to the workers, who use the mats to protect themselves from the cold temperatures. She hopes to continue working in the future. She appreciates the savings accounts and working methods of Manuela Ramos.
