Tha Sin-2 (E ) Village Group's story

Included in the picture are Khin, Htay, Toe and Chit, four loan clients from Tha Sin-2 (E ) Village Group in Pakokku Township. Pakokku Township is known as the dry zone area in Myanmar, where inadequate rainfall is very common compared to other regions.

But this township is famous for its production of tobacco; the traditional cosmetic, “Thanakha”; and cotton fabrics. Thus, villagers around this area mainly grow tobacco, cotton, and a variety of beans as well.

42-year-old Khin (second from the left) is the mother of three children. Khin and her husband earn their living as farmers whose major crops are sesame and pigeon pea. Khin’s loan portion will go for paying labor costs for helpers to assist her to plant and harvest on time. This helps support landless people who often work as labourers in the area.

Khin's family also operates a small handicraft business so as to earn additional income. Khin is positively looking forward to obtaining better yield and profits. Khin’s biggest goal is to build a good foundation through her farm to support her children’s well-being.
