Mamie's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy more, palm oil, rice, sugar, gari, fish and other ingredients to sell to her customers.

Mamie's story

Trokpoi town is just outside of the small and busy Southern area Bo Sierra Leone. Mamie, a local 42 year old business woman is married and has 12 children. She started her business to create source of income.

Mamie says that despite the challenges her business is doing well customers within the neighborhood patronize the business.

Mamie has a table at a busy market place from which she sells onions, palm oil, rice, sugar, gari, fish and other ingredients bought by her customers to make local spicy stews (such as “green”, “cassava leaf”, “groundnut soup”, “pepper soup” etc) for their families.

Mamie works 6 days a week for 12 hours a day. Given, for example, that Mamie must travel to purchase her stock and take her stock to the market, high public transportation costs can eat into her profits.

Mamie would like to use this loan to buy more, palm oil, rice, sugar, gari, fish and other ingredients to sell to her customers. Mamie says a big thank you to BRAC Sierra Leone and to the Kiva community for their financial support of her business which she says is a big help to her family life.
