Nyaung Hla-1 (D) Village Group's story

Out of 351 households, six loan clients are included in Nyaung Hla-1 (D) Village Group located in Pakokku Township in Myanmar. All of them are shown in the above picture; their names are Thin TL, Yi, Thin TH, Win and Han.

The featured borrower of this group is Thin TL (second from the left), a 49-year-old married woman who has four school-going children (two sons and two daughters). She is known as a religious mother who always finds a chance to celebrate a religious ceremony. Farming is the primary work area of Thin TL’s family which has been running for generations.

Besides farming, additional income is generated through their grocery stores. Thin TL is going to use her loan portion to hire labourers who will assist in planting but also to pay off plowing expenses. Currently, she grows tomatoes, chickpeas and pigeon peas in 2 acre farms. She is eagerly looking forward to gain better crop production and better profits. With the profits, she wishes to broaden more acres as well as to buy a farming tractor.
