A loan helped to buy groceries for her shop.

Tanaka Group's story

32-year-old Linnie, has a passion for business which drives her to do more. Operating in a challenging economic environment, Linnie’s business is her best means of survival. She runs a small shop in her community where she sells groceries and drinks that she buys from South Africa. Occasionally she crosses the border and spends two days restocking groceries. In her community, most people rely on her corner-shop for their daily supply of groceries.

Linnie is a married mother of three children who are all going to school. Linnie wishes to save money for the future education of her children. Her focus is to expand her business, improve quality of life and at the same time make meaningful savings towards her children’s education. Her group members, Portia and Thandiwe also have the same vision. They are on their third loan cycle with Thrive Microfinance. Linnie will use her loan to buy groceries for her shop.
