Seoun's story

Seoun R., 34, has been involved in her business since 2005 at her village in Takeo province. She sews, and sells clothes from local garment factories, earning a typical income of US$5 per day. She always spends most of her day in front of the garment factory. She is married and lives with her younger sister and two school-aged children. Since she wishes to generate more income for her family’s use and expenses, R. wants to take a loan of US$700 from Kiva partner, CREDIT to purchase more clothes to expand her current business. This will be her first loan from CREDIT. Her perspective is that she wants to have an additional business of selling groceries when she succeeds with her current business plan. R. is shown in the photo wearing a colorful shirt next to her younger sister.
