Tha Sin-3 (E ) Village Group's story

This loan funded by Kiva enables some loan clients in Tha Sin-3 (E ) Village Group to purchase necessary agricultural inputs such as compost. Others will use the loan to purchase fuel for running farm machinery. These inputs are vital for their farms to increase their yield and their income.

This village group is in Pakokku Township, Myanmar. Included in the picture are Kyi, Nyo, Kyu, Thandar, Than and Kyaw. Third from the left with the purple blouse is Kyi, who is 36 years old, married, and has a family with two school-aged children. Kyi works together with her husband in agriculture and this is their principle source of income.

For Kyi, this loan will be used to help in hiring labor for planting and harvesting and purchasing high quality fertilizer which will boost crop yields. This boost in crop yields will lead to increased crop sales so that their income will increase.

Kyi wants all her children to be well educated and to be government employees or have high paying jobs, and not struggle their whole lives as farmers like her.
