Total loan: $775

Philis' Group

Matete, Kakamega County, Kenya / Agriculture

Philis' Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a solar light and gain access to cost efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Philis' Group's story

Philis is 46 years old and has six children. She is a group leader and is representing her group, formed by 10 farmers in Matete District, Kenya.

Philis has been farming with One Acre Fund for years now, having joined the program for the first time in 2010. This decision was largely a result of her desire to earn enough to feed her family and, although she described her last harvest as very good, she believes she could have a better one this year by continuing to work alongside One Acre Fund.

Philis also decided to purchase a solar light as part of her loan, which she is very excited about, as it will allow her to have light during the night and have somewhere to charge her phone.

Obtaining this loan means that Philis's Group will be able to receive a total of five solar lights, as well as farming inputs to plant a total of 6.25 acres.
