Tejedoras 1 Group's story

Ana is 28 years old. She lived with her parents until she was 12 years old, then she moved in with her grandmother because she became ill and needed special care. She lived all her youth with her grandmother, taking care of her, doing the housekeeping, and studying.

At the age of 23, Ana obtained her Secretarial Title, and she married at the age of 24.

Six years ago, she decided to start a school supplies store. With her second and third loans, she decided to buy counters and products to expand her business. With her fourth loan, she began her shoe store. This year, she will get her sixth loan and will use it to buy school supplies for her bookshop and shoes for the shoe store.

Anabella is the leader of the group Tejedoras 1. The group is composed of seven women, all from the Ixil Maya ethnicity. The group will use their loans for agriculture (14%), and retail (86%). On average, each member of the group has two children, and the group members' are an average age of 31 years old. Of the members, 14% did not finish their primary education, 29% did finish their primary education, 28% studied the ninth grade, 14% have the title of Teacher of Primary Education, and 14% have the title of bachelor.
