Clemente Lucio's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a biodigester to turn farm waste into renewable resources.

Clemente Lucio's story

Clemente Lucio is a farmer in the state of Mexico, and has 10 cows and 600 chickens. He lives with six family members, and the income from the farm is the main source of income to support the family. He dreams of reducing contamination and increasing the productivity of his farm.

Clemente Lucio is currently spending too much money on the propane required to power his home for cooking and hot water.

His 12 cubic meter Sistema Biobolsa biodigester will allow him to use the abundant cow and chicken manure onsite to replace the propane. The digester will transform the "waste" into two important resources: methane-rich, renewable biogas and potent biofertilizer.

Not only will Clemente Lucio use the biogas to cook and heat bathwater for his family, but also will use the biofertilizer from the biodigester to increase yields on his crops. With this biofertilizer, he will no longer have to resort to expensive, petroleum-based agrochemical fertilizers.

This loan represents 63% of the total cost of the biodigester; the remaining part is covered by Clemente Lucio.
