Flores De Buena Vista Group's story

“Flores De Buena Vista” is the name of a Friendship Bridge Trust Bank located in a remote area in the department/state of Santa Cruz El Quiché. There are 7 ladies in the group who are beginning their 2nd loan cycle with Kivq. Yesenia is one of them who is a mother of 3 (7-20) with a 2nd grade education. She makes & sells delicious prepared foods like tortillas with meat, tostadas with chicken & a flavorful corn drink called “atol”.

She is requesting a loan to buy pots & pans, as well as meat & other ingredients for her recipes. Her dream is to keep raising the standard of living of her family & to keep sending them to school. All are enrolled in elementary & high school.

Yesenia & the ladies in the Trust Bank participate in monthly educational training, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of Friendship Bridge (loans + education). The sessions cover an aspect of 4 main pillars (women, family, health, business). They are designed by a Facilitator who uses role playing, games, pictures & diagrams to share the information. The women are able to use the information & share it with their families & friends.

Kiva investors are very much appreciated by each of the members of the “Flores de Buena Vista” Trust Bank. The ladies say, “Thank you, Kiva investors, for supporting new opportunities so that we can empower ourselves to create more prosperity in our lives”. They wish you a very Happy New Year.
