Mujeres Con Valor Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy cream and a variety of cheeses as well as a variety of fabrics to make tablecloths for the holiday season.

Mujeres Con Valor Group's story

The Pacific Ocean is along the southern coast of Guatemala with the state of Suchitepéquez bordering it. The area has very fertile soil that yields sugarcane, coffee, tropical fruits and rubber, and is excellent for raising cattle for dairy products.

Nine small businesswomen have formed the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres Con Valor” or “Women of Worth” here. They are beginning their third loan cycle with Kiva.

Many Maya women in Guatemala are single. One of them is 68-year-old Rosa, who is the mother of a 35-year-old son. She was fortunate to have a 5th grade education which encouraged her to support her son's education, and he now has a mechanic's diploma!

Rosa has a small business buying and selling dairy products. She is requesting a loan to buy cream and a variety of cheeses, as well as a variety of fabrics to make tablecloths for the holiday season.

Rosa feels very contented and empowered because she has received the Kiva loans along with monthly lessons in four main topic areas: business, health, women, and family. Through the business management lessons, she has learned to budget, save and control expenses.

Rosa is grateful to Kiva for partnering in the "Microcredit Plus" program of education plus loans. She now can envision a brighter future for herself, her family and her community.

Thank you to all Kiva investors. Happy Holidays!
