A loan helped to buy sheep to rear for resale.

Espoir Group's story

Joël is a sheep farmer. In the group photo, he is the one holding the ewe by the neck. He is 41 years old and married with three children ages 3, 7 and 9. The two eldest go to school. His wife is a community teacher.

For the past nine years, Joel has been a sheep farmer; he buys sheep, rears them and sells them later on. A loan from RMCR helped him to bolster his activity by acquiring more sheep at weekly fairs both locally and in neighbouring villages.

Joel rears his sheep over a period of six months after which he puts them on the market and earns a profit of 20,000 to 30,000F per head. This allows him to meet his family's needs by paying tuition fees, ensuring child care and providing a better diet.

His goal is to promote his activity while implementing diversification.
