Azucenas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy 100 chicks and feed for them.

Azucenas Group's story

The Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Azucenas” is located in a rural area in the department or state of Totonicapán, Guatemala. Nine ladies, who live in a rural area here, meet monthly to transact business on their loans and participate in educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program (loans and education) of Friendship Bridge. They learn about themselves (self-esteem, women’s rights, sexual and reproductive health), their families (health, hygiene) and their businesses (planning, investing, savings).

Maria is a member of the Trust Bank with no formal education. She is a hardworking 51-year-old who has a chicken farm. She fattens up the chicks and sells them both inside and outside of her community. She is requesting a loan to buy 100 chicks and feed for them. Maria is pleased that her business is growing and there is increased income to take care of her six children who range in age from 22-32. They have all had elementary and secondary education.

The success of Maria and her friends in the Trust Bank would not be possible if it were not for generous people like KIVA investors from all parts of the world. Thank you for your kindness in funding these much appreciated loans!
