Fatou's Group's story

This group was created in May 2010 and is made up of women who all come from the same neighborhood. Their work consists of animal raising, small-scale retailing, hairdressing, and sewing.

Fatou, the featured borrower, is the leader of the group. She is 59, married, and the mother of several children: five daughters, two sons, and two grandchildren, a boy and a girl. She raises poultry and sells dishes and mats. She buys her supplies in the capital and surroundings and makes her sales in her neighborhood. She has an established clientele and generally makes her sales on credit. She intends to buy some chicks and 12 sacks of feed. With the rest of the loan amount she is going to buy dishes for resale.

With her profit, Fatou intends to put aside savings in the Banc Villageois, help her husband with the household expenses, and manage her personal business.
