Mujeres Kaqchiqueles Paley Group's story

There are nearly 30,000 Guatemalan ladies who participate in the “Microcredit Plus” Program of Friendship Bridge (loans + education). Nine of these women, who are Maya Kaqchikel, have formed the Trust Bank “Mujeres Kaqchikeles Paley” in the department/state of Chimaltenango. They have businesses based on agriculture & traditional textile fabrication. They are beginning their 3rd loan cycle with KIVA.

Rosa is a member of the group with an animal husbandry business. She raises cattle & pigs & sells the meat of both inside & outside her community. She wants to diversify & expand her operation in order to generate more income. Rosa is requesting a loan to buy a cow & plans to sell milk, make cheese & sell calves in the future. As she lacks a formal education, her big dream is that her 2 children, who are 3 & 6 years old, graduate from high school!

Rosa & her friends in the group gain many relevant & useful tools during the educational part of their monthly meetings. The training, designed by a Facilitator from the organization, cover topics related to health, family, women’s issues & business. The ladies gain confidence in themselves, raise their self esteem & get real hope for their future! Thank you, KIVA investors, for the role that you play in this effort! You are valued & appreciated!
