A loan helped to meet growing demand for water tanks, solar panels, and clean cookstoves.
Household air pollution (HAP): in Kenya, over 80% of households use inefficient cookstoves for cooking and kerosene lamps for lighting, this exposes them to high levels of indoor air pollution that claim the lives of about 15k people each year
Biomass fuels: Related to HAP, 70% of biomass are collected by women and children, preventing them from engaging in other activities such as education
Access to clean water: Most households do not sustainably collect rainwater, with 90% of it wasted as runoff

SCODE also engages its communities heavily in order to not only generate demand, but also continually improve products. To-date, SCODE has sold over 50,000 units of its technologies and created almost 500 jobs across rural Kenya.Loan Use & Impact
