Las Ocho Abejitas Group's story

Communal bank: Las Ocho Abejitas Time period of the loan: 8 fortnights Total amount: 37.000.00 Mexican pesos Disbursal date: June 23, 2009 Grethel K. Rodríguez is a 38-year-old married woman. She is enterprising, responsible, and is a native of Tierra Blanca in Veracruz. She currently represents the communal bank, "Las ocho abejitas" (Eight Little Bees). They decided to name their group this because they like to work as a team like bees do. Grethel used to study medicine, but because of the economic situation of her family, she could no longer afford to study it, so she quit school to look for a job to improve her and her family's quality of life. She decided to go to a beauty academy to be able to start her own salon. She says she will use this small credit that FRAC is offering her to buy more beauty items so she can offer a better service and improve her work. Grethel's dream is to become an important beauty advisor and to be known around the world. She wants to have a big business, tohave more clients, and to give beauty classes so other people can increase their incomes. She has done this work for 19 years, and she really likes her work and sharing her knowledge with people who are truly interested in learning. She has a lot of patience for teaching. She has told us that she hasn't found another institution that works as hard and as transparently as Fundación Realidad. Currently this group is made up of eight enterprising and active women. Each of them has a productive job. This is the group's first loan, and they are requesting a credit of 37,000 pesos with an average loan of 4,625 pesos for each member.
