Mariatu's story

Greetings from Waterloo 1, a community near the small and busy Western rural area in Sierra Leone.

This is 35-year-old Mariatu, a married mother and business woman. Mariatu has three children between the ages of three years and twelve years.

Mariatu's business sells assorted drinks such as juice, pure water, and drinks. She started her business to educate her children. Mariatu has been a trader for nine years now.

Mariatu desires to empower her life. Mariatu works five days a week and ten hours per day. This is the only source of income that she has, and she is proud of her young business. She likes the fact that she continues to have new customers and has kept the old ones.

Mariatu wants to use this loan to buy assorted drinks, pure water, and juice to sell to her customers. Mariatu would like to open a big shop. She really wants to improve her life and is grateful to BRAC Sierra Leone and the Kiva community for their financial support.
