A loan helped to pay for her higher education in Economics.

Alima's story

Alima is 18 years old and a freshman in the Economics department. Alima thinks that for some people happiness is to have a big luxurious house; for some it is to have a lot of money, and for others is to be famous all over the world. For Alima happiness is to make her mother happy, make her smile wider and wider every day. Her mother for Alima is strong, brave, smart, hardworking, a great example of an “Iron Lady”. Thanks to her mother she tries to be an excellent student.

Alima's mother has helped her daughter to be who she is now. Alima dreamed of studying at AUCA since 8th grade when she started to think about the future. She wants to become part of the creative and talented AUCA family, and to have a good education.

Since childhood, Alima remembers her mother taking different loans and repaying them, and paying bills. She did it alone, because nobody helped her. Fortunately, today Alima's brother has got a job and helps her to pay some bills. In other words, Alima's family lives from one loan to another in order to cover their daily expenses.

They were glad to know about the opportunity to have a Kiva loan and financial aid at AUCA. Alima is asking Kiva lenders to help to pay for education. Alima wants to become well-educated in order to be able to help her mother. According to Alima, she is like an appletree in arid land. She needs some water to grow and give ripe fruit.
