Nomanini's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped to train & equip 200 rural merchants in Mozambique with an innovative "business-in-a-box" device.
Less than a fifth of adults in Mozambique are financially included. Lack of access to essential basic services such as water, electricity, and financial services exist because there is no way to pay for these services, as bank branches or ATMs are few and far between in rural areas. At the same time, there are thousands of informal retail merchants across Mozambique inefficiently selling goods such as Coca-Cola, vegetables and clothing in their local communities.Solution
Nomanini has created a unique "business-in-a-box" device (photos 3 & 4) that informal merchants can use to sell digital products such as prepaid mobile airtime and electricity, while also enabling the provision of basic financial services such as savings, remittances, and facilitation of cash-in / cash-out transactions. By selling digital products through Nomanini, merchants in Mozambique increase their monthly income by 20 - 30%. Furthermore, merchants earn a credit score based on transactions processed through the device, enabling Nomanini to offer micro-loans and provide merchants with access to working capital to grow their business. Its mission is to reach 1 million merchants across Africa.
