A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides.

Lydiah's story

Dear wonderful Kiva lenders,

Lydiah is a single woman with two children and is a rural smallholder farmer from the Kalegi, Nkubu area of Kenya. Her family's main income source is milk from their dairy farm. However, they are also involved in other agricultural activities such as growing bananas, vegetables, fruits, and grains.

The biggest problem that farmers from Nkubu face is the huge deficit in terms of access to agricultural inputs, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from Nkubu, like Lydiah, can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Lydiah is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her meet the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve her family's quality of life. She also hopes to improve the conditions of her house.

Help this single woman to accomplish all her dreams by supporting this loan!
